Motorola to Inject Five-year Investment in Malaysia

Motorola announced on February 26 that it will reinvest 350 million Ringgit (US$110 million; US$1=3.2 Ringgit) in its operations in Penang, Malaysia over the next five years. Since 1972, the company's accumulated investment in Malaysia has reached 3.9 billion Ringitt (US$1.2 billion).

Via the five-year investment, Motorola expects to create 700 engineering jobs, boost R&D operations, and expand its third-phase manufacturing facility in Penang. The investment is projected to focus on the manufacturing and development of digital two-way radios, wireless communications devices, equipment, and accessories.
